An Alternative Market in Lisbon
Some beginnings don’t announce themselves loudly.
They simply happen… in the right place, with the right people, at the right moment.
Our first market of 2026 was exactly that.
Hosted at Akari Studio, this gathering marked not only the first market of the year, but also the celebration of the 2nd anniversary of Grave Whispers - a brand created by a dear friend, and one that represents so much of what we believe in: independence, authenticity, and building something meaningful from the ground up.
A Space That Holds Energy
Akari Studio opened its doors on the 1st of January 2026, and somehow, from the very first moment, it already felt lived in.
Not just a studio - but a meeting point.
Akari Studio was born from photography - from years of creating, observing, and understanding how much physical space shapes creative energy.
Opened by myself, my dear friend Rute - Akari is rooted in our shared vision: a place where photography is the foundation, but never the limit.
It’s a working studio, yes - but also a space for meetings, small events, markets, conversations, and ideas in motion. A place designed for people to gather, collaborate, and build things together without needing to fit into rigid boxes.
That day, the studio reflected exactly what we dreamed it would be:
not just walls and lights, but a living space. One that adapts, welcomes, and holds energy - whether for a photoshoot, a celebration, or the quiet beginning of something new.
A place where ideas circulate freely, where creativity feels safe, and where alternative brands don’t have to explain themselves. That day, the studio became exactly what it was meant to be: a space for connection, conversation, and shared vision.
Celebrating Grave Whispers
Celebrating the second anniversary of Grave Whispers inside this space felt right.
Not because of numbers or milestones — but because of what the brand represents.
Supporting each other. Showing up. Growing together.
This market wasn’t about competition or trends. It was about presence. About standing side by side with people who create from the same restless place.
More Than a Market
As the day unfolded, one thing became very clear:
There is a need for gatherings like this.
Curated. Intentional. Alternative at their core.
Markets where brands, artists, and creators aren’t just selling - they’re sharing stories, values, and fragments of themselves. Where the atmosphere matters as much as what’s on the table.
This first market quietly planted a seed.
Looking Forward
We’re still riding the echo of that day - the conversations, the energy, the feeling that something bigger is waiting to take shape.
The idea of developing our own alternative market has been circling ever since.
Not rushed. Not forced. Just growing naturally, the way things should.
If this first gathering was a sign, then we’re listening.
This was the beginning of 2026 for us.
And it already feels like the start of something worth building.
